JAPANESE TUNNEL: Exploring Davao City’s Recent Past

HISTORY
The 300-meter long tunnel was discovered by the landowners while excavating the area in preparation for a hotel’s construction. Passageways, rooms, armaments and other artifacts were discovered inside the tunnel. It was later confirmed that the tunnel was dug out by war prisoners by order of the Japanese Imperial Army during the Second World War.

Cape San Agustin is the most southeasterly point in the Philippines situated in the island of Mindanao, between the capital City of Mati and the coastal town of Governor Generoso in Davao Oriental, facing the vast raging waters of Celebes Sea on the south and the calm waters of Davao Gulf on the west. Known of old as “Provincia de Caraga, 1609,” which stretches from the Cape of Surigao in the north-end, and down to the Cape of San Agustin, it was considered a most important strategic navigational demarcation during the Spanish colonial era.

OVERVIEW
There’s this waterfalls located within the highlands of Marilog District, Davao City named Cascading Waterfalls. It is a risky one-hour river trekking to the falls. They call it Cascading Falls because of the the water pour downward rapidly and in large quantities.
The falls is not really commercialized, so as to preserve the natural beauty of the place. There were 1 cottage in the falls, but one has to bring their own food.

“EPOL”,is an acronym which stands for “Everlasting Power of Love”. The waterfalls is located in Brgy. Baganihan, Marilog District Davao City, 300 meter trek from the national highway.
